What makes a perfume genderless

Gendered fragrance categories are a marketing invention of the twentieth century. Before that, men wore florals and women wore amber and leather. A genderless perfume, sometimes called unisex, is composed without that coding: notes are balanced for wearability across identities rather than sorted into masculine woods and feminine florals.

Artifact goes a step further. Our compositions are built to adapt, so the scent resolves around the person wearing it.

Why extrait de parfum

Extrait de parfum is the highest concentration in perfumery. At 25%, an Artifact fragrance carries more oil and less alcohol than an eau de parfum, which means it sits closer to the skin and unfolds over hours rather than burning off in a single opening burst.

Time-released notes extend that further. Lighter materials are anchored by fixatives so the fragrance arrives in waves across the day.
